We first met Nicolson Accountancy in 2004, when Cambrian Caledonian Limited opened the Arnish wind turbine tower construction yard. Having advertised for an accounts manager, we received a letter from Nicolson Accountancy proposing that we consider outsourcing this requirement. We met with them, and were very impressed with Nicolson’s commercial focus, professional knowledge and human face. Accordingly, Nicolson began to provide accounting services which went well beyond the remit we had originally planned, including, among other things, technical accounting advice and accounting manager services, payroll, and tax planning advice.
The quality of the service was such that Camcal’s parent company, Senergy, began to use their payroll services too. Redfield Consulting, a minority owner of Camcal, also began to use Nicolson as its accountant at this time.
Since 2006, Nicolson Accountancy has been Redfield’s accountant and payroll manager. It’s always said that if you want something done, you should ask a busy person to do it, and this is true for Nicolson. Any accounting issues which arise are dealt with by Angus or Sue, professionally, quickly and inexpensively. As a non-accountant, it’s a pleasure to deal with an accountant who can explain what needs to be done in layman’s terms, whilst demonstrating professional expertise and commercial understanding.
I have recommended Nicolson Accountancy’s professional services on a number of occasions in the past, and will continue to do so. Equally, as opportunities to use them arise in future, I will look forward to working with them further.
